  • Semi-Annual

    Posted: January 2nd, 2009
    by Kasey Newbold

Apparently this is now a semi-annual blog…but more on that later. More exciting than my apparent lack of commitment to bloggerdom is a gift that Mosaic was just able to give to another fantastic ministry, Outreach Inc.

Outreach (www.outreachindiana.org) works with homeless and at risk teens here in Indianapolis. During the month of December, we decided that we wanted to be a blessing to those who may be less fortunate than ourselves. So we set a goal. more »

  • The Much Anticipated

And very overdue update on “The Blessssing”. Recap: We realized we had become very distracted and inwardly focused. We challenged and encouraged each other to remember that God has blessed us to be a blessing to others. Each individual was challenged to seek out ways to bless others in their everyday lives. As a church, the challenge was presented for us to give away $5000 in 30 days. more »

  • Holy Long Blog Break Batman!

    Posted: August 19th, 2008
    by Kasey Newbold

Hey, everyone else is jumping on the batman train, so why can’t I? This unexpectedly long break from blogdom has led to a bit of a conundrum for me. Has it been so long that I should just jump back in and write a new blog like nothing is amiss, or do I write a blog to address the lack of a blog? I haven’t really decided yet. Oh wait…

  • The Blessssing

As I promised, I wanted to fill everyone in on a challenge I gave at Mosaic a week ago or so. As part of my realization that I had been moping for far too long and become completely self-involved in a pity party; I realized that I needed to not only trust God, but turn my attention towards blessing others. All through Scripture God’s call is pretty clear, trust Him and bless others. So, I gave a challenge on two levels. more »

  • Straighten The Wagons

    Posted: April 30th, 2008
    by Kasey Newbold

Okay, so it’s been a long time since I’ve posted anything, sorry about that. As many of you probably already know, it’s been one of those ‘beyond hectic’ times around here. At the end of March our worship leader announced his resignation, and April 13th was his last Sunday leading at Mosaic. I’ve realized over this past week that in the midst of all that craziness, we did something we never intended to do…we circled the wagons.

  • A Pregnant Lady Walks Into An Elevator…

    Posted: January 6th, 2008
    by Kasey Newbold

No, actually this isn’t a bad joke, though it does seem to have potential. So here’s the low-down. This past Saturday night, we had a group of volunteers come out to the lodge to help us do some early spring cleaning (yes, months early, but it needed it). Among the volunteers is my good friend Amy, currently about 36 weeks pregnant and looking forward to meeting her fourth child (currently known only by the alias ‘Peanut’). She gets on the elevator with her two daughters, pushes the button for the 3rd floor, and more »

  • Rethink…Rethought

    Posted: January 2nd, 2008
    by Kasey Newbold

Here’s the basic premise of Rethink Christmas. We, for the most part, have fallen into the trap of thinking that Christmas is all about getting and giving stuff. When we look at the Scriptural accounts of the birth of Jesus though, we see some pretty cool things that might often be missed. We looked at 3 together: God gave a relational gift to us, Himself-so we should give relational gifts to each other. more »

  • Cuatro! And Kids Two!

    Posted: October 2nd, 2007
    by Kasey Newbold

This past Sunday was the fourth for Mosaic, that’s right, we’ve made it through four weeks and we’re still here! We finished up the ‘My Sacred Disbelief’ series, which was a look at people in Scripture that struggled with doubts. So far things have been awesome, I feel like Mosaic is a pretty happy and healthy baby (yeah, I said baby…we’re not even a month old yet!). Because of some construction/renovation delays at the lodge we’ve only been able to offer kids stuff for nursery through preschool, but we got some good news today. more »

  • Please Keep Hands and Feet Inside…

    Posted: September 10th, 2007
    by Kasey Newbold

I’m not gonna lie, Sunday was pretty awesome!  Mosaic is now ‘officially meeting’ every Sunday, and what a great way to start.  We had some great music.  Some of our volunteers provided some uber-delicious snacks and such.  We took a look at the Biblical narrative of Job, and how it kind of seems like God hosed him.  We weren’t sure how many people to expect, but we had to pull out extra chairs.  And then some more chairs, and then some more chairs!  We didn’t “take a count” but more »

  • Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!

    Posted: September 6th, 2007
    by Kasey Newbold

Okay, so the truth is there won’t be any monster trucks there. I know it would be cool and all, but the logistics of monster trucks on the 3rd floor… This Sunday is it though, finally and already! Sunday September 9th is Mosaic’s first gathering. We are meeting on the 3rd floor of the Irvington Lodge at 10:30 am. In some ways it seemed like this day would never come, but now I can’t hardly believe that it’s here. We decided to start things off by talking this month about something we’re calling, “My Sacred Disbelief”. more »

mosaic podcast

misson

Mosaic exists to encourage people to begin their faith journey, to create a community where all can belong, to introduce people to a real Jesus in whom they can believe, and to encourage people to grow in their relationships with Christ and each other, so that together, we can all be whole.

core passion

Mosaic’s Core Passion is Worship. We worship by teaching the life changing truth of Scripture through culturally relevant environments and methods. We worship by striving for excellence in all we do, believing that excellence honors God and inspires people. We worship by creating authentic community through our transparency and loving relationships. We worship by sharing the Good News that God desires to know and be known by all people.

vision

To become a faith community in Irvington that daily lives out the gospel of Jesus Christ in all of its beauty through creative teaching, embracing and emphasizing the arts, equipping believers for ministry, acts of service, and transformational discipleship.

beliefs

We believe that the Bible (both the Old and New Testament) is the Word of God, and is therefore completely true as it was originally revealed by God to its human authors. 2 Timothy 3:15-16, 2 Peter 1:20-21

We believe in God the Father, the maker of heaven and earth. We believe that God is eternal, He always was and always will be. We believe that God is not far from us, and desires to know and be known by all people. Genesis 1, Isaiah 40:28, James 4:8

We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. We believe that Jesus was sent to earth in the form of a man to redeem the world. He is the Messiah, or Savior, who died on a cross to pay the penalty for our sin, He arose from the dead three days later and ascended to heaven. Matthew 16:16, Philippians 2:6-8; John 3:16, 1Corinthians 15:3-4, Acts 1:1-2

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the indwelling presence of God in our lives. He empowers and emboldens us for works of service; and He enables us to understand and live out God’s will in our lives. 1 Corinthians 3:16, 1 Corinthians 12:7, John 16:13-15, Acts 1:8

We believe that all people are made in the image of God our creator, and therefore have inherent worth and value. We have been separated from God by our own selfish and disobedient attitudes and choices, known as sin. God desires to be reunited with us, and has made this possible through His Son Jesus. Genesis 1:27, Romans 3:23, Romans 5:9-12

We believe that Salvation is a gift from God that cannot be earned, but is given freely to those who accept His Son, Jesus. We believe that upon accepting Jesus one should repent of their sins (turn away from their selfish and disobedient attitudes and choices), confess Jesus as their Lord and Savior (tell others what they believe about Jesus), be baptized in His name (immersed in water as a symbolic death and resurrection), and then live daily for Him (trading our desires and choices for His desires and choices). John 3:16, Ephesians 2:8-9, Acts 2:38, Romans 10:9-10, Romans 14:7-8
