A couple of weeks ago I was with a group of people who were asked the question, “What do you stand for?” Of course someone immediately blurted out, “If you don’t stand for something you’ll fall for anything!” And my mind raced to a dozen different ridiculous answers like, “the pledge of allegiance” or “a shower”; answers that clearly had nothing to do with the question at hand.

Now, being the group of good Christians that we were, we finally calmed down and started giving all of the right Sunday school answers, you know, “truth, justice, and the American way” (I think that was superman actually, but Jesus could have said it)! Then my friend Shane spoke up and simply said, “the struggle, I think I stand for the struggle.” I immediately connected with what he had just said, and I thought to myself, “how beautiful.”
